Privacy Policy
Effective Date: July 12, 2026
Military Retirement Planner is operated by Adapt Embroidery & Printing, LLC ("we," "us," or "our"), doing business as Military Retirement Planner. We value your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. Military Retirement Planner is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the U.S. Department of Defense or any branch of the U.S. military.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information: your name, email address, and a hashed password (we never store your password in plain text).
- Military service profile: information you provide such as branch/component, pay grade, service dates, retirement plan (High-3, BRS, etc.), and state of residence.
- Financial and family profile (optional): if you use our planning features, you may provide sensitive financial details such as TSP balance and contribution rate, VA disability rating, expected post-retirement income, tax filing status, number of dependents, spouse age, healthcare preference, and combat-zone status. You choose what to provide; more detail produces better projections.
- Calculations and plans: the retirement scenarios, calculator inputs, and AI-generated plans you save.
- AI conversations and memories: messages you exchange with our AI assistant, and short "memory" facts the assistant saves about your situation to personalize future answers (viewable and deletable by you in the assistant's Memory tab).
- Payment information: payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your card number; we keep subscription status, plan, and purchase records (for example, AI credit purchases).
- Usage and security data: server logs, IP address, approximate request metadata, rate-limit counters, and bot-protection signals (Cloudflare Turnstile) used to keep the service secure and reliable. We also use the Meta (Facebook) Pixel to measure how well our advertising works — see the Cookies section below. Your saved plans, financial details, and AI conversations are never sent to advertising partners.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Provide the service: run your calculations, build and store your plans, and personalize AI answers to your situation.
- Billing: manage subscriptions, free trials, and AI credit balances.
- Improve the product: analyze aggregate usage to improve features and fix problems.
- Communicate: send transactional emails (receipts, account notices) and, with the ability to opt out, product updates and newsletters.
- Protect the service: prevent abuse, enforce rate limits, and comply with legal obligations.
3. AI Features and Automated Processing
Our AI features (the AI Retirement Planner, the Q&A assistant, and the AI Tax Planner) are powered by Anthropic's Claude models via Anthropic's API. When you use them:
- Your messages, relevant parts of your service and financial profile, your saved memories, and relevant saved calculations are sent to Anthropic to generate the response or plan.
- Under Anthropic's commercial API terms, data submitted through the API is not used to train Anthropic's models.
- AI output is generated automatically and is educational only — it is not financial, tax, or legal advice, and it may contain errors. See our Terms of Service for details.
- We do not use your information for automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.
4. AI Conversations, Memories, and Retention
- Conversations with the assistant and the memory facts it saves persist across sessions so it can remember your situation. They remain until you delete them or delete your account.
- You can view and delete individual memories in the assistant's Memory tab, and delete conversations from its History tab.
- If you delete a conversation, we keep an aggregate usage record (token counts and cost — not message content) to maintain accurate billing for your AI allowance and credits.
5. Web Research
To answer questions that need current information, the AI assistant may run web searches through the Brave Search API. Search queries are derived from the topic of your question (not your identity) and result summaries are stored in a shared research cache that is not linked to your account, so similar questions from other users can be answered without repeating the search.
6. Service Providers We Share Data With
We share data only as needed to run the service, with these providers:
- Stripe — payment processing (subscriptions and AI credit purchases).
- Anthropic — AI model processing (Section 3).
- Brave Search — web research queries (Section 5).
- Resend — transactional and newsletter email delivery.
- Cloudinary — image hosting and private storage of plan documents you export; download links expire after 7 days.
- Neon — our PostgreSQL database host (data encrypted at rest).
- Cloudflare Turnstile — bot protection on forms.
- Fly.io — application hosting.
- Insurance agent CRM systems (such as SuiteCRM or GoHighLevel) — only if you explicitly request an insurance referral (Section 7).
We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public. We do not sell your personal information.
7. Insurance Referrals (Opt-In)
If you request to be connected with a licensed insurance agent, we share the contact details and message you provide (such as name, email, and phone) with that agent's CRM system so they can contact you. This happens only with your consent, given at the time of the request.
8. Plan Share Links
You can create a share link for a retirement plan (for example, to show your spouse). Anyone who has the link can view that plan without logging in, so share it only with people you trust. Share links use long unguessable tokens and are excluded from search-engine indexing.
9. Cookies
We use first-party cookies for signing you in (session), remembering your theme preference, and security (including Cloudflare Turnstile's bot checks). We also use the Meta (Facebook) Pixel, a third-party tool that sets cookies and sends Meta information about your visit — the addresses of pages you view and signup events — so we can measure and improve our advertising. The pixel does not receive the contents of your saved plans, your financial details, or your AI conversations. You can limit Meta's use of this data in your Facebook ad preferences, and most ad-blocking browser extensions prevent the pixel from loading at all.
10. Data Retention and Deleting Your Account
- We keep your data while your account is active.
- You can delete your account in Settings. Deleting your account removes your profile, service information, financial and family profile, calculations, plans, AI conversations, memories, and credit ledger from our database.
- Some records survive account deletion where required: payment and invoice records held by Stripe (financial record-keeping), email delivery logs at Resend, and residual copies in encrypted database backups for a limited period.
11. Security
We protect your data with encryption in transit (HTTPS), encryption at rest in our database, a strict content-security policy, rate limiting, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is entirely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Your Rights and Choices
- Access and correction: view and update your profile and inputs in Settings.
- Deletion: delete individual memories, conversations, calculations, and plans in the app, or delete your entire account in Settings.
- Email opt-out: unsubscribe from marketing emails via the link in any such email; transactional emails (receipts, security notices) are always sent.
- Questions or requests: contact us at [email protected], including data-export requests.
13. Children
Our services are for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
14. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the product evolves. We will post changes here and update the effective date; for material changes we will notify you by email or in the app. Your continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
